"Award Space" is another free web hosting site by the owners of AtSpace.com. With all the webhosting features of paid hosting (even better than many cheap ones), this is about the best bannerless free web hosting service ever. It has a generous 5 GB monthly web site traffic allowance, and 200 Megabytes of storage space. You can have up to two addon domain names (free domain name hosting!) and up to 5 subdomains for hosting multiple websites free. Some website builders may find the 500kb filesize limit too small, but larger files can be hosted remotely on the many free file hosting services available on the Internet. The free hosting server and FTP upload is fast. The Award Space free web hosting control panel looks similar to Cpanel and Plesk, having many icons to all kinds of webhosting features such as phpMyAdmin and MySQL database manager, FrontPage manager (for Front Page Extensions), access and error logs, Email filters, e-mail spam protection, and a lot more. Access and signup are limited to some countries (IP blocks banned), and some PHP functions are disabled in order to prevent spammers and other abuse. Some of their features are still in beta development, so not fully available yet. There is no SMTP, so you cannot send email from your account. It has been reported that they have an undisclosed word filter in place that causes offending web pages to redirect to a "403 Forbidden" error page. Overall, definitely one of the best freewebspace hosting servers. |
